SDR Sponsors Charity Boxing Debut in Support of Race Against Dementia

SDR proudly sponsored our own Senior Scheduler Lynzi Dale as she stepped into the ring for the first time at Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) Southampton, raising vital funds for Race Against Dementia. After just eight weeks of intensive training, Lynzi won her debut bout and raised £1,460 for dementia research – a cause close to her heart.

Why Lynzi Chose Race Against Dementia

Lynzi chose to fundraise for Race Against Dementia in memory of her late grandad. Like many families, Lynzi experienced first-hand the emotional toll dementia takes, not only on those diagnosed but also on their loved ones.

Race Against Dementia funds pioneering research aimed at accelerating the development of treatments, driven by the same performance mindset found in elite sport. Supporting this charity allowed Lynzi to turn a personal loss into meaningful action.

From First Session To Fight Night: The Training Journey

After watching a friend compete in a UWCB event earlier this year, Lynzi decided to challenge herself and sign up, despite having no prior boxing experience.

Preparation involved eight weeks of regular training and a strict diet. Lynzi completed two sessions per week, combining fitness conditioning, pad work, technique drills, and controlled sparring. What started as a daunting prospect quickly became a confidence-building routine.

UWCB Southampton: The Result And Fundraising Total

On fight night in Southampton, Lynzi entered the ring in front of a packed crowd, completing three rounds against an experienced opponent. She won the fight, marking an unforgettable debut.

More importantly, her fundraising efforts exceeded expectations, raising £1,460 for Race Against Dementia through donations from colleagues, friends, family, and supporters.

How SDR Supported The Fundraiser
